Revamping doors

Sometimes it's nice to carry a certain color or colors through out your
space, especially where rooms adjoin each other.
I did this
using two colors, black and fiery brown. The black was used on my
exterior doors, trash barrel and a bench
I have in my
kitchen. The fiery brown was used on the trash barrel, bench, side
exterior kitchen door and my china
cabinet in my
dining room.
Cost:
$24.00 for paint
Supplies:
Paint (Behr; 1 gallon Deep
Space)
Tools:
Paint tray, brushes, Painters
tape and rollers
(drop cloths if your messy)
Screwdriver
Action plan:
Repaint the doors & add a
decorative scroll on the side door
Still To Do:
I might add brass kick plates.
Inspiration:
My inspiration for the side
kitchen door came from my trash barrel. The colors of my trash
barrel are black and the same
Fiery Brown I used on the
inside of my china cabinet. I liked the scroll on the trash barrel
so I decided I would paint my
side kitchen door to match the
trash barrel. Using black was an easy choice for both doors for a
few reasons, one
anything would have been better then the
color it was and two the best known colors for a front door is either
red (or
berry) or black. A red or berry color doesn't
really go with my house as the siding is a light blue, I though black
would
compliment the house better.
Process:
I started out by washing the doors
then I painted them with two coats of Behr, Deep Space paint. The
front door I hung
a wreath I already had. The
side door I used some of my artists paints and first painted a white
scroll design on the door,
then I used my colored artists paints
and went over the white scroll with green and the Fiery Brown color.
