Tying
colors together
Sometimes it's nice to carry a certain color or colors through out your
space, especially where rooms adjoin each other.
I did this
using two colors, black and fiery brown. The black was used on my
exterior doors, trash barrel and a bench
I have in my
kitchen. The fiery brown was used on the trash barrel, bench, side
exterior kitchen door and my china
cabinet in my
dining room.
Cost:
$0 already had the paint
Supplies:
Paint (Behr; 1 gallon in Deep
Space, 1 quart Sherwin-Williams Harmony in Fiery Brown)
Tools:
Paint tray, brushes, Painters
tape and rollers (drop cloths if your messy)
Screwdriver
Action plan:
Paint the door, inside of the
china cabinet and bench
Still To Do:
Add a new seat cover on the
bench then stencil on the scroll design.
Inspiration:
My inspiration for the side
door and bench came from the trash barrel, I wanted to tie them all
together because they were
in close proximity to each
other. For the China Cabinet, I tried a few different color ideas
from a piece of cardboard to a
light blue sweater then I
finally tried the top of the trash barrel inside the china cabinet and
realized how nice the color
looked inside behind a few
pieces of my china. I used different objects behind my china to
see how well it would make
the gold on my china pop.
My second choice would have been to use the Sherwin-Williams Harmony
cardboard color.
Both the Fiery Brown and the
Cardboard colors matched the wall color in the dining room nicely.
Don't be afraid to try
different objects around your
house to give you an idea of what a paint color might look like on
furniture or walls etc.
Process:
Painted that simple. Once I get
some black fabric I will staple it on to the bench seat then stencil on
the matching scroll
design so it all ties in together. |
